Brad and Danielle’s wedding on the Belle of Louisville
I love weddings on the water! I've done several riverboat weddings over the years, both in Louisville and Cincinnati, but I am surprised to say that this summer was my first wedding on the wonderful and historic Belle of Louisville. I knew that a major renovation had just been done, and so I was very excited to see the result, as well as extremely grateful for the addition of air-conditioning to the main dinner/ballroom. Sometimes I wonder how we ever did without it! But uh well, I've blogged enough about how hellaciously hot this summer was.
Brad and Danielle's wedding was no different, weather wise, but the sun was beautiful on the river, and the Belle always provides such a unique backdrop for photographs. I often take my engagement photography session couples down to the where the Belle of Louisville is docked and do shots around the old steamboat, so it was especially fun to be able to have the run of the ship and do photos wherever we liked. The nice thing about shooting from a riverboat is that you not only have the unique and characteristic old steamboat decor as a backdrop, there is also the ever-changing city and riverside to shoot as we drift along the Ohio.
I will say that the new look of the Belle of Louisville's ballroom and dinner area is truly magnificent. Because of the heat, we did most of the formal pictures indoors in the big room, and the setting provided a lovely backdrop.
Anyway, enough about the boat! Brad and Danielle and their families are a wonderful bunch of people who have shown me so much kindness both on the day of the wedding and with every communication we have had since. Thanks to all of them for letting me be a part of such an important day!
