Louisville Science Center
Over the past several years, I have truly enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship with the Louisville Science Center.
They contacted me after seeing my blog post about Lauren and Michael's wedding, and were interested in using several of my shots from their wedding reception (held at the Science Center) for their website. I was thrilled, of course, and from there came an agreement to use my photos from events there for their advertising and marketing.
They have been very kind to recommend me to brides visiting there who are thinking about using the Louisville Science Center's banquet room for their wedding or reception. It is a wonderful space for a wedding, and I've seen it dressed up and decorated in many wonderful ways, with the brides always using the room to it's best potential. One of the best features of the room (besides it's large size and separate area for a buffet) is the entire wall of picture windows that look out over the Ohio riverfront. Since many of the wedding events I have photographed there are in the evening, especially in the summer, the sunset view over the river is nothing short of spectacular. With such a beautiful vista out the windows, brides can really save a bit of money on decorating since the view alone is hard to compete with. I have shot both entire weddings and receptions where the entire event takes place at the Louisville Science Center, and also weddings where the ceremony took place at one location, and then the dinner and party were hosted at the Center. There are so many great photo opportunities both in the Center and in the beautiful downtown area surrounding it; wedding parties have the run of the entire museum, so there are a ton of unique locations in which to shoot, even if your entire event takes place there. I often encourage my brides to schedule some extra time and locations for photos at a wedding where everything happens at one place, since variety in your wedding photos adds much interest and diversity to both your prints and album. This is definitely not a problem at the Louisville Science Center!
I have also really enjoyed the variety of shoots the Center has asked me to shoot over the years. Their big once a year fundraising Gala in November is always a blast. They really go the extra mile to make the party a true all around experience, with fun science learning stations, different types of music featured, and a silent auction with all kinds of goodies. My most recent job for the center was doing photos of their board members, for a directory they are publishing.
Last year and this year again, I am so excited to be a part of their special Thunder Over Louisville Party. This year, a baby T-Rex from the Dinosaurs Live! tour will be featured, along with Robbie the Robot, the usual great kid's activities, wonderful food, and of course, the air show and fireworks to be enjoyed away from the crowds and under the shade and shelter of I-64. I will definitely be posting photos from this day, so stay tuned.
